WEEK 4

Hello everyone. As you are all aware, we returned from the New York College Media Association early due to the coronavirus and the city of NY shutting down. Students returned early and I arrived to a notification that our courses would be going online and that classes were cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday of that week. My intent was to have us online by Monday, March 23, and then a new notification alerted us that classes would be cancelled until March 30.

With that said, we will begin our online classes on March 30. We are not allowed to assign any work until that time. Please make sure you are on Slack and that you are keeping up with notifications. We will be a couple of weeks behind, but I promise to make this transition as simple as possible.

Be sure that you are also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so that we have all lines of communication open. I am available by text, email, and Slack.

You will receive instructions to how this course will work by next week. Please stay calm and be safe.

WEEK 3

Hello everyone!

Last week we worked on 'your content ideas and how you would tell your story (text, photos, video, podcast, etc.)

This week, you will complete your stories and prepare to publish.

By now you should have a Twitter, IG and Facebook account, and have dowloaded Slack.
You should follow all the student media listed on your syllabus and have had your photo taken for a press pass.

Please note that this class has additional hours TBA which are to be used for gathering visuals, interviews, video, etc. for your content.

If you miss class, you lose the points for the week.

If you have not had your photos taken fo your press passes, have on taken on Tuesday, OR come with a head shot of yourself that you'd like to use.

See you on Tuesday!

Week 2

Hey everyone!

Last week you pitched story ideas and we began forming groups.

This week we will solidify our groups and you will start working on your first assignment.

You will set up all your social media accounts and have your press pass photo taken. If you prefer to have your own photo, please give it to us today.

See on Tuesday!

Week 1 - Welcome!!

Welcome to JOUR 114!

Congratulations! You are all now part of our student media staff. I look forward to hearing your ideas and to begin overseeing your awesome creativity applied to our student media.

By enrolling in this course, you will be a part of an award-winning student media staff. You will be given a press pass with your photo on it and will have doors opened for you that offer incredible opportunities.

I run the lab in an experimental way where no idea is too crazy. Our goal is to try new things and see what works. We are on campus to serve the student population by informing and entertaining them with interested college content. Never fear to make your ideas heard. All ideas are welcome.

You will need to have Twitter and Instragram accounts, and you will also need to download the free app Slack. I will go over all of this with you on Tuesday.

Here are some of the things the press have said about us. Please give these articles a read!
